Old Mobeetie in the panhandle of Texas hosts a re-enactment day during the summer. This pastel was inspired by the man who portrayed Billy Dixon one year. He had been visiting with folks and I liked the unusual toothpick image to paint a common action.
I guess one might say I choose to pick my subject.
Lil'Black Goat stood and quizzed me on the art of art, I told her to hold still & I'd paint her as I informed her that art is about life and about the paths we each roam. She seemed to already know that and off she trotted to roam her own trail, leaving me with the task of memory painting. I just smiled as I knew our paths had touched.
